What is Meloxidyl Oral Suspension Meloxidyl is a product containing the medication meloxicam in a liquid/suspension formulation, making it easy to dose and use. The active ingredient Meloxicam is a Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug (NSAID) that reduces inflammation in the body. Meloxidyl should only be used in dogs and is commonly prescribed for dogs with osteoarthritis and those who have undergone surgery. What risks are associated with Meloxidyl Meloxidyl hasn’t been studied in dogs under 6 months of age, pregnant dogs, or lactating dogs: Use carefully in these groups. As with most NSAID s there is a risk for kidney damage, stomach bleeding, and liver damage. These risks are more often seen with long term use and also seen more prominently when combined with diuretics or corticosteroids.
